Johnson (Cornell) calls for an interview
After a gap of about 42 days (from the day my app went ‘Under Review’), I received a call for an on campus interview from Johnson (Cornell) GSM. The wait was long but I kind of expected it as the adcom was good at communicating to everyone that the interview calls will take some time due to the holidays. The school released the admits for R1 before the holidays and it was kind of natural for the adcom to take a small holiday break.
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to travel all the way to Ithaca due to my current work assignments and some very important planned work for the month of February. I would love to visit Ithaca to meet the school authorities, the admissions ambassadors and club officers who have been helpful during my application process, and to experience the student life at Johnson GSM. But currently I can’t take a leave of about a week to visit Ithaca due to my work schedule. I have written to the school authorities about this and I hope they will be able to arrange an alumni interview for me in India. Till then, it is time for some interview preparation.
Final app goes in
The last and final application of my MBA journey is now in. I submitted my application for Ross in its R2 on January 5, 2010. With this the step 1 of my journey towards an MBA at Ross is now complete. I must say that Ross is one of the best business school I have applied and gettin in at Ross will be a dream come true. I intentionally did not submit my Ross app for R1 as I just wanted to make sure that I apply all of my learnings from other apps. Like they say, with each app the quality of the essays and other stuff goes up.
I now just feel relieved after all these applications as I can simply relax more. The apps have taken away my and my recommenders’ weekends and have been demanding many times. I just feel so relieved and I am now thinking about doing a lot of things that I just missed during this app season. Coming up next is a blog post on how my friend and I celebrated the new year. No alcohol , no dinner with friends and no dancing on the disc. This time we did a real crazy thing (at-least this is what we think
)
BTW … a small update for all Ross R2 applicants: Ross adcom has just started the essay reviews now.
Olin says welcome
My first success in this MBA app journey. I got an admit from Olin Business School (WUSTL) with some scholarship amount per year. It feels good to see an admit after all this hard work during the application process. I applied at Olin in R1 and had an interview in November end.
It would have been great if the scholarship amount would have been a little more as last year the amount of each scholarship was kind of double of what everyone received this year. But I guess this is the result of the current economic scenario and the large number of applicants who applied at Olin this year.
For now, time for some drinks to celebrate my first admit of the season
